23.05 Tuesday

  • Documentation was worked on, including changes to the SKILL-DB.
  • A UX lecture was attended, and a consultation was held with Skill Collector.

We started the day with an important self-reflection session, where we delved into the reasons and purposes behind our work at WIMMA Lab. This allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of the significance and impact of our projects. A significant portion of the day was dedicated to familiarizing ourselves with the technologies that will be used in our projects. We had the pleasure of hosting Sara Norja from Combitech Finland. Sara shared further insights on UX Designing, emphasizing the importance of understanding user needs and the role of visual elements in enhancing their overall experience. Additionally, we created a social media post about Sara's visit. This post aimed to highlight the valuable knowledge and experiences shared by our guest, engaging our audience and promoting awareness of our activities.

We had the pleasure of hosting Joonas Varis and Arttu Sippola from Valu Digital as guest speakers. They provided us with valuable insights into Git usage and its practicality in software development. We explored the fundamental functions of Git, with a particular focus on merging and the role of automation in streamlining the process.

Exploration and integration of Leaflet and React were carried out. We did documentation Swagger with SKILL-DB.

In addition to our project work, we had the pleasure of hosting Sami Lindgren, a Test Automation Engineer at Etteplan. Sami is an esteemed WIMMA Lab alumni. During his visit, Sami shared his knowledge and insights with us. Sami provided valuable guidance on the path to becoming a testing professional. He shed light on the distinction between automation and test automation, emphasizing the importance of adapting testing methodologies based on project requirements. Sami also stressed the significance of defect identification and the need for meticulous attention to detail to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services.

26.05 Friday

The previous day's Traffic Visualizer was in a basic state, so efforts were made to further develop it and explore different libraries.

Geoman was adopted for shape drawing, and various heatmap extensions were investigated (resulting in the decision to potentially create a custom one or fork an existing library). SKILL-DB and the API are now hosted on Pouta CSC.
