Media and marketing:

On Monday, putting the Nature Excursion adults on the move some posts for social media channels and created content for future social media posts. During the day we also did some testing and bug hunting on the Tukko website for IoTitude.

On Tuesday, I made a social media update about Istekki and posted it on social media. Ankita also helped me write the text for the Sprint 8 section of the OPF website.

On Wednesday, Marko Rintamäki visited us to see what we've been up to over the summer. I also did some translation work into Finnish for the Career Scouter website.

On Thursday, I published Jukka Hämäläinen's presentation "7 Behaviors of Building Autonomous Team Mentality" on social media. The OPF website was updated and the translations of the Career Scouter fake profiles were worked on. Team members also started writing their own reports.

On Friday, Hannu Oksman went with two other IT professionals to see how the summer was going. During the day, documents and personal reports were also written. Photographs were documented and saved in Drive, and work started on the aftermovies. Over the weekend I also did more editing lessons.

Career Scouter: CSS Enhancements, Docker Image Automation, Power BI Progress, and Testing Activities

In the ninth sprint of the Career Scouter project, our focus was on CSS enhancements, finalizing Docker image automation, Power BI progress, and testing activities. We successfully completed the following tasks:

  1. CSS Enhancements: Changing the CSS of Career Scouter to Match Skill Collector: We updated the CSS styling of Career Scouter to align it with the design and appearance of Skill Collector. This ensured visual consistency between the two websites, contributing to a cohesive user experience.

  1. Fixing the Search Bar in Career Scouter: We addressed an issue with the search bar on the Career Scouter page, where it was not functioning as expected. Through careful debugging and troubleshooting, we resolved the problem, and the search bar now provides the expected results.

  1. Documentation Writing for Career Scouter's Own OPF Page: We dedicated time to comprehensive documentation writing for Career Scouter's Own OPF page. This documentation outlined the key aspects, features, and functionalities of Career Scouter, serving as a valuable resource for the project's management and future development.

  2. Quiz Finalization: Student Preference Survey: We finalized the quiz, which serves as a survey to track students' career preferences and changes in their decisions over the study years. This quiz would provide valuable insights into user preferences and help improve the website's career recommendations.

  1. Finalizing Docker Image Update Automation: The automation of Docker image updates, which was initiated in the previous sprint, was thoroughly reviewed and finalized. We ensured that the automated process for updating Docker images was efficient, reliable, and aligned with the project's requirements.

  2. Power BI Progress and Troubleshooting: - Data Extraction from Microsoft Forms: We successfully extracted data from Microsoft Forms, which collected valuable information on student choices and preferences. The extracted data would aid in gaining insights into user behavior and choices.

  • Data Presentation in Power BI: We presented the extracted data visually using Power BI to create meaningful and informative dashboards. This facilitated better understanding of student choices and preferences in a visually appealing manner.

  • Troubleshooting Power BI Access Issue: However, we encountered an issue where only the owner (the individual who created the Power BI dashboard) could visualize the dashboard. Despite attempting to troubleshoot and resolve the problem, it remained unresolved within the timeframe of this sprint.

  1. Testing Activities: Our dedicated tester performed both manual testing and test automation using the Robot Framework and Selenium library. In manual testing, the tester verified the website's functionality and performance by simulating end-user interactions. Additionally, the tester employed test automation to execute repetitive tasks and test cases, resulting in faster and more efficient testing.

  2. Documentation for Test Management: Alongside the testing activities, the tester documented various aspects of test management. This documentation included test plans, test cases, test execution results, and any identified issues or defects. The documentation served as a valuable reference for tracking testing progress and ensuring the software's quality.

By the end of Sprint 9, we achieved significant progress in CSS enhancements, aligning Career Scouter with Skill Collector's design and resolving issues with the search bar. We successfully documented Career Scouter's Own OPF page, providing valuable insights into the project's features and functionalities. Docker image automation was finalized, streamlining deployment processes. While significant progress was made with Power BI, the access issue remained unresolved. Testing activities, both manual and automated, were conducted efficiently, with comprehensive documentation for test management.

These accomplishments furthered Career Scouter's development, preparing it for the final sprint and eventual deployment. The identified issues and ongoing efforts in Power BI would be addressed in future iterations, ensuring a comprehensive final product.
